Trendy Ways of Using Colors in Website Design
Color is definitely a staple of design
element. We see colors literally everywhere, every day, and in
everything. There is no escaping from it. That’s why people are used to
colors. But here is the problem.
We are used to seeing colors in our daily
life and that’s why web designers have to work hard to make sure their
colors create a highlighted impression that draws their audience’s
attention. Otherwise, the background colors and the colors of the
website elements will stay unseen and merge with our everyday life
colors.
But this isn’t a website’s motive. So, here are some trendy ways to use colors in a website.
Use as a Strong Background
As I have said, the colors in a website
should stand out among other colors. They should be visible in a way
that readers can’t unsee them.
One of the best ways to do is using the
color to make a strong, bold, and eye-catching background. The color in
the background will do two things for you.
First of all, they will draw the
audience’s attention, as it was supposed to do. Secondly, when your
audience will start looking through your webpage after being drawn to
it, the background color will give the elements of your site a good
contrast and highlight them. This will help the audience to find what
they are looking for or what you want them to see.
Make a Bold Statement
Colors can also work as visual cues. I’m
sure that’s not something new to a web designer. But what’s new is their
creativity with their color. Lately, web designers are getting really
into the colors and their vibe. They are implementing colors into the
visual cues.
For example, what will intimidate you
more, a black cross or a deep, bright, vibrant red cross sign?
Definitely the latter with the vibrant visual cue.
Like this, using colors to make bold
instructions with visual cues can be a great help to the site owners for
persuading their audience in taking an action.
High Contrast
This is similar to the first one that I
talked about, a strong background. But only a strong background can keep
the reader into the webpage for so long.
That’s why every element of a website should have a clear contrast to the previous layer.
For example, if you are using an image on
your site, don’t just put it there. Put it over a color pallet that
makes a good contrast with the image. This forces the image to stand out
amongst the text and other website elements.
This can be done with anything, not just an image.
Keep it Consistent
When you go to Facebook, what do you see?
Definitely a verity of useful photos, texts, videos and other contents. What else?
A persistent Blueness throughout the design.
This visual cue lets the audience to
believe that they are still on Facebook and this allows their brains to
memorize what Facebook looks like. So, if you want your audience to come
back again and again, use a persistent color combination throughout the
design.
