4 Questions That’ll help You Choose Between Influencers & Affiliates
If you are hoping that I’ll answer one of
the age-old questions of all time – affiliate marketing or influencer
marketing, which one is better – then you should skip this article right
now because I’m not here to answer it.
There’s no valid reason to prove one’s
excellence over another. However, I can ask you some questions and then
answer them to solve this problem. These questions and answers will help
you decide what to choose for a specific group of people with different
mentality, different color, different situations, etc.
What do you want?
First of all, it’s important you know
what you want for your target audience. Do you want to just sell your
products or service to your targeted customers? Or do you want to bring
awareness to the masses and influence them to use your products?
If you want to increase your sales,
affiliate marketing is fine. With affiliate marketing, your audience
reaches your product through links on your affiliate’s website or other
mediums. If they are convinced by your visual/verbal references to the
product’s advantages, they’ll click on the link and the link will
redirect them to the products page where they can order it.
But if your target is to create awareness of your products, then influencer marketing is the best option for you.
Who are your target audience?
The age, race, gender and other obvious notations of your target audience can help you decide which one to choose.
If your audience is comparatively young
at age, they’ll most probably ignore click-bait affiliates.
However,
they have a basic mentality to follow, which is why a powerful
influencer can get through them like no one else can.
But if your target audience is old, you
can’t mesmerize them by some pretty boys’ or girls’ toys.Pay attention
to what the website owner has to say about your product.
There are other factors that help you
decide whether to choose influencer marketing or go with affiliate
marketing. Like some people are easier to manipulate by someone they
trust and follow, rather than a computer screen and a bunch of words.
How much are you willing to spend?
Even though you don’t need to pay an
affiliate partner upfront, the commission is simply “too much.”You are
giving a percentage to the affiliate for convincing the buyer to place
an order. You are giving them a specific amount after each buyer makes a
purchase through your affiliate’s platform. That means your take-home
amount is decreased by the affiliate severy time.
However, you don’t need to pay any
commission for any sale that was diverted by an influencer. You just pay
him once and his influence stays there working for you for years to
come.
Did you consider both?
You aim is to get the maximum sales and
for that, you should be able to do anything. This includes combining
affiliate marketing with influencer marketing.
You can simply create 2 different
campaigns for both of them. This way, you are not missing affiliate
marketing’s effectiveness or Influencer marketing’s wide spread
publicity.
